Upon completion of this course, you will have all of the skills required to pursue a career as a computer technician doing repairs, maintenance, and even building computers from scratch.

The PC Maintenance & Repair diploma program is an entry level program which prepares you to apply for an A+ Certification. As a Graduate you will have all of the skills required to pursue a career as a PC Service Tech, or a Technical Support Specialist.

Career Prospects

You could open your own PC Repair shop from your basement or garage and bring in extra money on the weekends. You could work for a large chain like Future Shop or Staples as a service tech. You could work within any company or office as their Technical Support Specialist. You could offer basic computer maintenance training classes to your neighbourhood, or you could simply be the person your friends and family turn to for computer help.

Salary Expectations

Entry-level computer maintenance technicians earn an average of US$41,708.

After a few years' of experience, that could be as high as US$50,984, and

A senior level technician's salary can be as high as US$65,094.

COC 101 Computer Concepts

Learn key terminology and technology associated with computers, including computer hardware and software, file management and network technology.

COC 102 Windows

We'll teach you the workings of the latest Windows operating system, including using the desktop, managing files and folders, and using the Windows Help & Support.

COC 103 Internet Basics

Provides a step-by-step introduction to all aspects of the Internet. Topics covered include browsers, searching techniques, and email.

ENG 101 Technical Writing

A focus on workplace writing based on employer demand. You will learn vital communication and writing skills including thinking, listening, composing, revising and editing. You will learn to write clear and concise instructions as well as business correspondence.

PCM 101 A+ Guide to Managing & Maintaining Your PC

You will learn the installation of hardware and software, diagnosing and troubleshooting of problems, the properties of motherboards, processors and memory, and customer satisfaction. Basic networking and portable systems are also covered. This subject prepares the student for A+ certification exams and success in the PC Repair industry.

PCM 102 Exam Prep A+ Comptia Certified Computer Technician

This course covers all the material necessary for the new A+ certification exam. It contains simulation tests, which cover the two parts of the A+ Certification - Core Hardware and Operating System Technologies.
