You study at your convenience, any time and any place you wish, using our online learning management system.

We provide books and software, a computer, a course outline and a flexible weekly schedule of assignments. You practice new skills at any time day or night, and complete a set of exercises or tests to submit for evaluation each week.

It is a flexible system but you will need to submit assignments on a weekly basis. You should expect to commit 20-25 hours per week to your studies. Your friendly instructors will be there to assist you every step of the way.

Core Courses

Before you can take a course delivered by computer, you need to know how to use that computer, and so we teach it to you step by step in our basic programs. You’ll first get a quick refresher on communication skills and then a basic overview of Computer Concepts, delivered in the traditional book-learning style, with written tests for evaluation.

Next you’ll learn your chosen computer Operating System (Windows or Mac). These modules are evaluated using a combination of hands-on projects and online tests through our Students’ Centre.

Finally, you’ll be given a thorough set of instructions on how to use the Internet for personal use as well as for research and school projects.

Specialty Courses

Each of your Specialty Courses consists of step-by-step, hands-on tutorials punctuated by periodic exams and independent, practical projects related to your chosen field. All tutorials and projects are evaluated by an instructor with real-world experience, and are returned with helpful commentary that will allow you to expand your skill base.

Tests & Assignments

You study at your convenience, any time and any place you wish. We provide a course outline and a flexible assignment schedule to be followed weekly. You practice new skills each week and are assigned an exercise or a test to submit for evaluation.

Our seasoned instructors have developed several methods of evaluating a student’s progress, including traditional written tests, hands-on projects, and step-by-step exercises, all evaluated by an individual instructor. In addition, there are online tests that give immediate results through our computer system.

As you progress through your program, we encourage exploration on your own into alternative and creative problem-solving methods. Finding different paths to solve different problems is a valuable work asset.

Although this is a self-directed program, you will never be left all on your own. The instructors will make a point to get in touch with you every week or two to see how things are progressing and if you need any help. We know it’s difficult to keep motivated without a classroom to get to, so we make sure to do all we can to keep you on track!

The Learning Process

You’ll learn directly on the computer, using step-by-step instructions chosen by faculty who specialize in your field of study. We accommodate different learning styles by implementing varied delivery techniques including self-evaluating online tests, project-based exams and hands-on assignments. Our assignment evaluations always include encouragement and helpful suggestions.

Back to School Can be Easy

We offer a “Home Study Help” module to all of our students. It’s especially useful for those who haven’t been in school for a few years, and includes helpful hints on juggling work, family and school.

Although you’ll learn on your own, you’ll never feel alone. We have hundreds of students and alumni you can talk with at our online students’ centre.

Our students should feel they are part of the school and be able to interact freely with fellow students and staff concerning academic, social, and personal issues.

Our Guidance Department ensures every student’s success by providing support services to those students who are experiencing problems. This is very important to us and CD-ED will continue to develop programs that will provide students with the support and information they deserve.
