CD-ED uses a Learning Management System that allows a complete online education experience. You’ll be given a web address and login information that brings you to a webpage which includes everything you’ll need.
You will receive a phone call at the start of your program to be introduced to our staff, the student materials, and the support website.
In addition, you’ll be enrolled into an Orientation program at the LMS website that explains in detail the policies and regulations, how to work each week, what we expect from you, and even some tips for online education success.
Your student binder will instruct you as to which books, software, and assignments you will work on each week.
In addition to step-by-step textbooks, your assignments may be based on proprietary video tutorials as well as lessons written by your instructor.
Note: availability of proprietary lessons varies per program.
Any files necessary to complete each week’s assignments will be available on the LMS site.
The LMS uses web-based forms to submit assignments. Each week’s assignments are clearly marked and easily submitted.
As assignments are submitted, the instructor is notified via email from the LMS. The instructor then personally evaluates your assignment and leaves formative and constructive feedback for you. The LMS will send you an email to let you know that the mark and feedback are available.
Your LMS profile will include a link to a report card that is updated for you weekly by your instructor. You will be able to track your progress both academically and within your schedule.
Online tests are available in many subjects which allow the student to be evaluated immediately on any theory-based projects, at any time day or night.
You’ll have access to academic, technical and administrative support via email, online forms, and toll-free phone. Support is unlimited; contact us as often as required.

CD-ED has a full Career Guidance Program. In addition, your instructors are available throughout your program to answer questions about the industry you’re preparing to enter with your new skills.
CD-ED is constantly seeking better hardware, software and learning materials for our students. We are conservative about making changes to our programs of study, but we do make occasional changes in our computer hardware, software, and learning materials. These specifications are subject to change without notice, but you can be confident that any changes will be upgrades - instituted to the advantage of students. All changes in learning materials are subject to approval by the Nova Scotia Department of Education.
Note: All teaching is in English and your proficiency in the English language should be adequate for the level of study you wish to take.
