We cover the terminology and procedures used in both litigation and non-litigation matters. We also impart important verbal and written communication skills in this comprehensive course.
Career Prospects

The Legal Office Administration Program is a 64-week course designed to enable students to work in a legal office setting. It is important to note that this is not a paralegal course. The skills learned in this program might help you find a position as a legal secretary, legal administrative assistant, or receptionist, in a number of varied settings including law offices, the court system, insurance companies, real estate or government departments.

Computer Concepts 60 hours Computer Concepts introduces key terminology and technology associated with computers.
Windows 40 hours We'll teach you the workings of the latest Windows operating system, including using the desktop, managing files and folders, and using the Windows Help & Support.
Internet Basics 40 hours Provides a step-by-step introduction to all aspects of the Internet. Topics covered include browsers, searching techniques, and email.
Word Processing: Microsoft Word 200 hours You will learn how to create and format a variety of documents such as business letters, memos and reports.
Database: Microsoft Access 68 hours The fundamentals of creating a database, including defining a table structure, entering records and navigating a database, previewing tables and creating queries.
Business Communications 119 hours Success in today's competitive, diverse, and global office environments requires flexible attitudes and special sensitivity to the effects of culture. Moreover, today's communicators must be able to think critically and must be familiar with online technology and the Internet. This topic focuses on the essentials of business communication demanded in the modern office environment.
Legal Office Procedures 204 hours To be a successful member of the law office support staff, you must demonstrate good, personal attributes, excellent job skills, and a solid knowledge of the work to be done. This subject teaches you skills that will assist you to excel in the areas of law office management, non-litigation reponsibilities, and lititgation responsibilities.
Canadian Law 221 hours Studying Canadian Law will increase your ability to evaluate all of the legal information that surrounds you. Although many legal terms may sound familiar, now you will learn what these terms actually mean. Moreover, you will be able to recognize unfamiliar terms and know when a reported account is accurate or biased. This topic will give you the opportunity to increase your legal vocabulary and to build on your own analytical skills.
Keyboarding 162 hours This is an instructional program designed to give you a high degree of flexibility and success in meeting your goals for effective typing skills. The solid theoretical basis you will obtain with this course enables you to transfer your skills to any computerized business environment. Exercises are designed to help you achieve a speed of 50wpm by the end of the program.
Filing 17 hours You will learn the fundamentals of filing through a series of instructions, exercises, and quizzes using a mini filing system which simulates business documents that would be found in a professional office.
